The Fiordland National Park has some of the most extraordinary and dramatic scenery in New Zealand.

Designated a World Heritage wilderness and among its many scenic attractions, this area includes Milford Sound, Mitre Peak and Doubtful Sound.

The jewel in the crown is Milford Sound and Mitre Peak. Whatever the weather, the views here are spectacular, a photographer’s paradise, with sheer cliffs and cascading waterfalls. Always allow plenty of time to drive to Milford Sound, and admire the view and size of the mountains, with lots of places to stop on the way.
At Milford Sound visit the Underwater Observatory or take a guided diving trip to immerse yourself in the unique world that lies beneath the surface of the Sound.
The sheer rock walls reach a depth of up to 450 metres, producing an undersea paradise.
Doubtful Sound, in contrast, is often called the “Sounds of Silence”. Rich in natural history, flora, and fauna lookout for Fiordland Crested Penguins, Bottlenose Dolphins and New Zealand Fur Seals.
